If you would’ve asked me if I’d ever consider painting digitally, I would have said quickly and confidently no.
But never say never.
In 2022, I began playing around in the digital world. There was a part of me that felt like I was betraying myself as an artist. Cheating in some way or another. And yet there’s another part of me that felt proud of myself for stepping out of the box. For being willing to grow where I never saw opportunity or would’ve allowed myself to go. To accept flexibility in my rigidness as an artist.
Will digital painting ever become my top medium? Doubtful. There’s something about sitting down with physical entities that no digital tools can match. Applying the paint myself, watching the paint play with the water—yes, I’m a watercolorist! Nothing can compare.
I also believe digital books can never replace physical books. That distinct new-book smell, to feel the paper between your fingers as you turn the page… They can never replace the convenience a screen offers.
